The natural anti-ageing effects of 24k gold serum can be traced back to the time of the ancient Egyptians when Cleopatra was queen. Rumour has it that she slept with a mask of 24k gold every night and swore that it improved the suppleness of her complexion.

Skincare with 24k Gold

The effects of gold were not just Cleopatra’s imagination. The truth is that gold has always been an anti-ageing agent that has stood the test of time. Research shows us that gold acts as an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for sensitive and hypoallergenic skin as well as hyperpigmented and acne-prone skin.

The “metal” gold helps calm redness and protects us from free radicals that ultimately lead to wrinkles. It gives our skin a natural glow or radiance and stimulates cells that help with collagen production to keep our skin smooth and elastic.

How does the gold get into our skin?

24K gold flakes are usually suspended in a serum. What the serum is made of is another story. Choosing a good delivery system could be difficult. Please choose carefully and select as many natural ingredients as possible. You do not want to ruin the good effects of the gold with ingredients that are unnecessary or cause new problems for your skin.

This is precisely why I find myself in the beauty industry in the first place. The deception of making a serum out of 24 karat gold and then using fillers, enhancers and other dangerous ingredients ends up counteracting the good benefits of the one ingredient that is advertised on the label.

This is a common problem, especially when it comes to the final price. Unfortunately, some of these ingredients give us the illusion that they work and actually feel good on the skin. Often, they feel deceptively better than the natural ingredients such as silicon. Do not fall into this trap and be sure to read the labels. I also wrote a post on which ingredients are bad for your skin.

Here is an example of how I like my 24k gold serum to be 100% natural with each ingredient with a benefit of its own. The lavender and rosemary also have a healing and natural scent that just puts you in a good mood.

The gold can be suspended in a variety of natural “dry” oils.

What is dry oil?

Dry oil is a term for oils that are easily absorbed by the skin and have a low comedogenic rating, meaning they won’t clog your pores.

Most dry oils are rich in linoleic acid and are found in herbs, seeds and flowers. Rosehip seed oil is a particularly popular oil in facial serums. It’s rich in vitamin A and absorbs quickly, allowing its antioxidants to penetrate deep into the skin. It is an oil most like our own natural sebum. Combine rosehip seed with gold and you already have an amazing natural combination.

11 Dry Oils we use to make 24K Gold Serum

At Leaf Juice Skincare, we have carefully selected the most natural combination of dry oils to combine with the gold. When you apply our 24K Gold Serum to your face, the gold will immediately be absorbed into your skin along with the nourishing oils.

Here’s a full list of all the ingredients we use.

Rosa Canina (Rose Hip) Seed Oil, Vitis vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel (Argan) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia (Macadamia) Nut Oil, Lavandula Angustofolia (Lavender) Oil, Tocopherol (vit. E) Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, 24k Gold.

What other products is 24k gold used in?

But the delivery system for gold is not limited to serum or gold flakes. Gold can also be in the form of colloidal gold. Colloidal gold is a suspension of 24k gold in the form of nanoparticles. They are so small that the gold solution appears red. If the gold content in the product is high enough, this red colour will transfer to the end product, such as Colloidal Gold Cream, which is naturally pink because of the 50 ppm (parts per million) gold.

This is easily absorbed into the deep layers of the skin. A Biocellulose Mask with Colloidal gold has a super advantage in the delivery system as the biocellulose clings close to your face.

Cleopatra was a trendsetter for all time when it comes to the cosmetics industry. I can imagine she would have loved some of our new ingredients like hyaluronic acid used in our Botanical Face Serum.
